Welcome to the blog of The Cornwall Camper Company!

We are a young, fresh and keen new business based in Cornwall providing bespoke and exciting vintage VW campervan holidays in Cornwall.

Two years ago Ben Ford, the magic hands behind the restoration of the vans decided that he had always wanted to run his own business, and I said “well – what are you waiting for?” The Cornwall Camper Company was born and with his vast engineering knowledge and incredible ability to fix anything and everything – and my passion for PR, born from my years in the press office at the Eden Project we smugly thought we made a rather good team.

First up – we bought the vans after having fallen in love with two abandoned beauties that had been forlornly sat in a field for ten years. With a promise that we would restore them to their former glory and get them on the Cornish roads again we left with the momentous task of our first re-builds. Watch the video of the restoration of Lilly the van here.

After 12 months of hard graft the van was sparkling in the summer sunshine and in August 2012 our first customers had the pleasure of taking her on her maiden voyage down to the deepest West of Cornwall and also decided that they want to hire her out again as soon as possible!

It’s been a fantastic start to the business, a crazy ride with highs, lows and sore hands (from all the sanding) but happy hearts. We are looking forward to 2013 with two vans on the road and more in the workshop being renovated to bring happy holidays to many!

We would not be here today without the help, support and patience of our many friends and supporters. Much love and thanks go to Mike from Ground Search for renting us space in his unit where all the magic happens, Hannah Storie – designer extraordinaire who has built our brand for us and provided the beautiful designs that are shaping our website and building our future, Shane Manaton who created the website – our platform to the world, our parents who have watched us become a young couple into a young pair of entrepreneurs and spent many a day and night giving advice and support.  The biggest thanks go to you, the people reading this post, sharing our news and supporting us on Facebook and Twitter. Thank you.

Keep reading our blog to hear all of our news, our trials and triumphs and most importantly, the journeys of our vans through the beautiful county of Cornwall.
